Martha and Bruce each bring more than forty years of continual, disciplined study in various movement arts, (Athletics, Modern Dance, Ballet, Aikido, Tai Chi Chuan, Chanoyu, Argentine Tango), to their careers as Alexander teachers. They have had the privilege to study with five first generation Alexander teachers, Marjorie Barstow, Richard M. Gummere Jr., Elisabeth Walker, Erika Whittaker, and Catherine Merrick.
"Rapid adaptation, assimilation of new ideas, and originality."
F. Matthias Alexander saw his work moving people toward the realization of these attributes. He describes his work as an entry into a world full of wonder.
At the Alexander Alliance, Bruce and Martha Fertman balance a firm commitment to Alexanders principles with an unusual spirit of exploration into wider dimensions of their use and meaning.
Graduates of their schools have made an excellent start at regaining their naturalness in their lives and are ready to help others change and grow in the same direction.
