Alexander never told anybody what to do. He criticized very little in lessons. And because he didnt criticize you, you relaxed, and you were treated by the way his hands seemed to be sculpting you, from the inside out, which felt so expansive and strong. Without effort, you had let go of all your tensions which were now replaced with support and freedom, and with an entirely new coordination
Erika Whittaker (b. 1911), graduate of Alexanders first teacher training course. Philosopher / Historian for the Alexander Alliance. Student of Alexanders work for eighty years.
The Alexander Alliance provides the time and the
space for deepening the quality of your attention, coordination, and
responsiveness. Gradually, you will acquire the skills for helping
others to do the same. Students graduate from Alexander Alliance schools
as sensitive, competent teachers of the Alexander
Work.
The longer I teach, the more I realize how very simple Alexanders work actually is. Its simplicity and subtleness seem almost beyond comprehension. Strangely the learning process seems to go on forever.
